GRASS CUTTING & LAWN CARE

Grass Cutting & Lawn Care

Lawn Care

Establishing lush, healthy, beautiful lawn grasses demands diligence. Proper maintenance, mowing and nutrition all lead to achieving your goals; but success also rests on the grass itself. Whether establishing a new lawn or maintaining an existing one, matching the best cool- or warm-season grasses to your growing region is critical. Always take into account your area’s challenges — low or high average rainfall, high heat, harsh winters or rocky soil should all inform your turfgrass choice.

Grass Cutting

Mowing actually helps make your grass grow thicker because the tip of each blade contains hormones that suppress horizontal growth. When you cut the lawn, you remove these tips allowing the grass to spread and grow thicker near the roots. According to the gardener experts, lawns should be mowed every second week in summer and every two to five weeks from autumn to winter. Spring mowing times will vary according to rain and sunshine. It is ok to leave your clippings on the lawn every now and again, as clippings are a great source of nitrogen and can act as a natural fertiliser for your lawn. A quality cut comes from a well maintained mower.
